With more people working from home these days, wax melts have become really popular to help people relax after a tough day of homeschooling or uplift spirits after yet another zoom meeting. Wax melts don't have to just smell nice, why not add a bit of EcoStardust biodegradable glitter to add some eco fun and sparkle. Watch our reel below to see how easy it is to add EcoStardust Bioglitter® to your wax melt creations
Why shouldn’t you use conventional glitter in wax melt?
Conventional glitter is made from plastic, and because of its size it is known as a microplastic. Burning or heating these micro plastics in an innocent wax melt can also release harmful chemicals and dioxins making the relaxing experience actually not very good for your health.
EcoStardust do not sell plastic glitter, never have and never will! EcoStardust only sells Bioglitter® and offers a 100% plastic free glitter made from plant cellulose. It is cosmetic grade biodegradable glitter that is also perfect for arts and crafts, candle making, bath bombs, soaps, and much more.
Can you use EcoStardust in wax melts and is it safe?
Yes, you can. As it contains no plastic and no heavy metals it burns more like paper and when disposed of it biodegrades in the natural environment within weeks, therefore avoiding the toxic fumes created when burning plastics and introducing harmful microplastics into the environment.
How we used EcoStardust in our wax melts experiments.
1 - Weigh out enough wax for your moulds and warm gently over a low heat.
2 - Weigh out up to 10% by weight of fragrance oil and 0.2% by weight of wax dye.
3 - Once at 70degC remove from the heat and add your fragrance oil and wax dye.
4 - Allow your colourful and fragrant mix to cool to approx 60degC.
5 - Whilst cooling, sprinkle some EcoStardust eco glitter into your mould.
6 - Gently pour the melted wax into your moulds and then sprinkle more glitter on top.
7 - Allow to cool for a few hours.
8 - Pop out of your moulds and enjoy the heavenly scents in your wax burner.
